12 Specify consistent PDF destinations
If your PDF file is placed on a web site,
you can have named destinations in it and use links (in web pages
or e-mail messages) which specify the destination ("named
view") in which to open the PDF.
When using FrameMaker's built-in newlink
hypertext marker to define named destinations, an M8.newlink.
prefix is added if it is a stand-alone FrameMaker document. If
a book is converted to PDF, Mnn.8.newlink. is added
-- nn representing the document's position in the book
(these will change as the book is updated and some chapters are
added or rearranged).
With the Delete "mX.newlink."
prefix of newlink markers starting with: funtion (Links/General
tab), you can define custom named destinations in your FrameMaker
files through hypertext markers. These will be present automatically
upon distilling, exactly as specified. Named destinations
are also used in Acrobat JavaScript functions or to specify a
default opening page in a stand-alone PDF.
Example: this link (pointing to http://www.microtype.com/showcase/ConvertFMnewlink.pdf#Inspiration)
opens the target PDF (PDF:
16K / 4 pages) at the "Inspiration"
destination; source
FM (10K)
